The census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and your community. Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other resources based on census data. As of the 2010 census, there were 11,356 people residing within the borough and 5,284 households. The racial makeup of the borough was 87.5% White, 9.5% African American, .1% Native American, 1% Asian, 1.5% Hispanic or Latino, and 1.6% from two or more races.
