Police Department
The Munhall Police Department, led by Chief Patrick Campbell, is a department of dedicated professional police officers and civilian personnel committed to providing the highest quality of service and protection to the community. The department continues to strengthen its relationships with the community by effectuating an inclusive collaboration of law enforcement, citizens, community agencies, political leaders, and public information services.
It is the priority of the Department to promote continued education to maximize training opportunities for our officers, command staff, and civilian employees. Technical advancements and the ongoing development of comprehensive data collection programs are also essential for the most efficient delivery of services, improved public safety, and departmental accountability. With a renewed commitment to excellence and a focus on state of the art technology, the Munhall Police Department plans to be well prepared to meet the challenges ahead.
It is the intention of this department not only to provide the reactive services necessary to ensure public safety but also to commit to providing the proactive services that will enhance the unity within our community. By listening to our collective voices, both internally and externally, the Munhall Police Department and the citizens of Munhall will build bridges of trust that encourage mutual respect and positive change in the 21st Century. |
Fire Bureau
In addition to fire abatement, the Munhall Volunteer Fire Bureau, led by Chief Matt Pisarcik, provides services to the community that include public education, disaster preparedness and CERT teams that help provide critical support by giving immediate assistance to victims, providing damage assessment information, and organizing other volunteers at a disaster site.
The mission of our uniformed men and women is to maintain a constant state of readiness. To respond to and mitigate fires, traffic accidents, medical aids, and other types of emergencies so that the citizens and visitors of Munhall may be able to survive these unexpected tragedies.
Additionally we strive to minimize damage to personal property and the environment. We strive to provide the public with timely basic and advanced life support when necessary in order to provide the best possible care to the injured and ill.

Public Works
The Public Works Department, led by Larry Billy, is responsible for directing the planning, designing, engineering, constructing and maintenance of all streets, municipal property and traffic signals. The department is also responsible for solid waste collection and disposal, and advance planning for public works related capital projects.
The primary goals of the Borough Engineering Services are to design for transportation, parking, and protect private and public improvements from damage.
This program provides administrative and technical support services, design and construction of the various projects undertaken by the Borough; coordination of the off-site improvements installed by private developers; and administration of the various transportation funds, claims, and grants. In addition, the program provides borough-wide survey and right-of-way engineering functions, identifies developer responsibility for off-site improvements, and provides long-range planning of Public Works facilities.

Code Enforcement
Our neighborhoods are the environment in which we live and raise our families. Blight and nuisances can devalue, detract, and degrade the quality of any neighborhood. Recognizing the importance of protecting the home environment, the Borough has adopted codes that govern the use and maintenance of private property. Building & Safety and Code Enforcement is managed by Dave Cannon.
The Code Enforcement Division provides enforcement of local municipal and State adopted Codes and ordinances to ensure compliance for safe living and business operations in the Borough of Munhall.
Building & Safety
Building & Safety is a division of the Borough of Munhall. Our objective is to ensure that new and remodel construction adheres to state, county and local laws for building, electrical, housing and plumbing codes.
The Building & Safety Division achieves this goal by issuing permits and conducting field inspections of construction work for compliance with those codes.
Building Permits are required for certain types of construction or remodeling. There are specific issues for residential, multi-family and commercial construction.
For Building Inspections, our goal is to provide timely inspections of construction activities for builders and consumers so the built environment meets established standards and so the construction progress is not unnecessarily hampered.
